Francesco was the Chief Analytics Officer at Kambi, a leading sports betting B2B solutions provider and the company currently powering brands such as Unibet, 888, and DraftKings. Prior to joining Kambi, Francesco was Head of Sportsbook Solutions at Stars Group, one of the world's largest online gambling companies that owns the brands SkyBet, BetStars, and PokerStars. Prior to Stars Group, Francesco was a leading Quantitative Analyst at Ladbrokes. He holds a PhD in Physics from Heidelberg University.
Michele is a certified public accountant and has more than 15 years of experience in accounting in a variety of areas from SEC reporting to operational accounting. Immediately prior to joining SimpleBet, Michele was the Vice President Corporate Controller at On Location Experiences. Before that, she spent 11 years at CORE Media Group holding various Corporate and division accounting roles. Michele has a bachelor of science degree in accounting from the University of Delaware.
Varun is the Founder & CEO of TennisML, a sports betting services product with proprietary machine learning algorithms, automated computer systems, and database systems. He was a Product Manager at Microsoft, and prior to that, was a Technology Associate at Bridgewater Associates. He studied at Harvard University where he graduated with an A.B. in Applied Mathematics and S.M. in Computer Science.
Leo has 18 years of experience in the sports betting industry working for major brands worldwide. He spent 13 years on various senior roles at Ladbrokes, a UK powerhouse, and has vast experience in product development within Sportsbook, Trading and Risk. Additionally, Matt has spent over ten years as a product architect in industries ranging from media and AI (@Bloomberg) to FinTech (@PayPal) defining business problems, delivering value by minimizing outputs and maximizing outcomes, and shipping successful products. Matt holds a B.A. degree in economics, with a concentration in game theory, from the University of Pennsylvania.
Harry was the Co-Founder & CEO at Swig Labs for 5 years, a mobile marketplace for wine & spirits backed by Techstars and Anhueser-Busch. Previously, he was a Product Manager for an A.I. chatbot startup and worked in publishing for Major League Baseball. He graduated with a B.A. from Colgate University where his senior thesis on valuing draft picks was published by M.I.T. & the National Baseball Hall of Fame. He has been a Yankees bleacher creature for 10 years.
Henry has been serving sports fans for over five years, from writing about NBA advanced metrics for VantageSports to producing content for the Stats and Info department at ESPN in Bristol, CT. He now delivers intuitive experiences to users to enhance their engagement in sports viewing. He graduated with a B.A. in Economics from Bates College. When he's not working, you can find Henry hobbling around a pick-up basketball game, deep diving for sports trivia, and practicing tenor saxophone. His rescue, Trekkie Monster, is the cutest dog in Manhattan.
Mark is a tenured professor at Columbia Business School, where his recent courses include Sports Analytics, Business Analytics, and The Business of Sports. From 2012 – 2016, Mark was Vice Dean of Columbia Business School. His research interests include the pricing of derivative securities, risk management, and quantitative methods for decision making under uncertainty. He has been called the “Godfather of Golf Analytics” by the PGA Tour and is known as a leading sports analytics expert.
Stratos is a professor of Computer Science at Harvard University's School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, where he leads the university's Data Systems Laboratory. He works in the area of data management with an emphasis on designing systems for big data exploration.
Anthony likes math, likes writing code and loves work where he gets to do both. Before SimpleBet, he cofounded ViSR, a computer vision startup. Professionally, he's fascinated by machine learning - deep learning and reinforcement learning in particular. He holds a Bachelor's in Mathematics and Statistics from Harvard University.
Liming has a PhD in chemical engineering. He previously built various models and software for problems in the environment and energy sectors. His expertise covers multivariate statistics, machine learning, deep learning, OR, graph theory, and matrix computations. He also designs and builds solutions based on relational database and AWS cloud web services, including EMR-Spark. Liming published 20 technical papers and holds a patent on image processing.
Kyle was a data scientist at Mattersight Corporation, where he automated end to end data pipelines that integrate machine learning models into SaaS products. Prior to Mattersight, Kyle attended the University of Chicago, where he graduated with a B.S. in Statistics and a B.A. in Chemistry.
Andrew is graduating in May 2019 with an A.B. in Statistics & Computer Science from Harvard University, where he is co-president of the Harvard Sports Analytics Collective. Andrew has served as a trading intern at Optiver and Jane Street and as a soccer data analyst for the New York Cosmos.
Justin is a data scientist, with a passion for business problems that benefit from rigorous application of machine learning tools. He received his M.S. degree in Computational Science & Engineering from Harvard University in 2018, and his B.S. in Applied Mathematics from Columbia University in 2017 with a minor in Computer Science. Previously, he was a Computer Vision & Data Science intern at Perceptive Automata, a startup applying deep learning to perception for autonomous driving systems, and a Technology Summer Analyst at Morgan Stanley.
Aaron has long been passionate about sports and sports analytics, which led to his winning a nationally broadcasted Baseball Trivia competition prior to entering college. He has worked as a Software Engineer at Bitso, the largest cryptocurrency exchange in Latin America by volume, and as an Analytics Intern at Activision Blizzard. Aaron will graduate from Harvard University in May of 2019 with a B.A. in Statistics, and a Secondary Field in Computer Science.
Tom spent 4 years as a trader for UK sports betting firm Spreadex, followed by 2 years as a professional sports gambler. Since relocating to New York, he has used his Data Science experience to build predictive underwriting models for Fintech startups YieldStreet and CommonBond. Sam graduated with his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the CCNY Grove School of Engineering. As part of Sam’s research, he developed algorithms to improve missile detection for Northrop Grumman and to forecast pollution for the EPA. Christopher holds a PhD in Mathematics with a focus on stochastic processes and estimation theory. Chris has Data Science experience creating predictive models for user behavior at Zynga and Verizon. His work as a Data Engineer includes designing and building analytics platforms and backends for mobile video games
John worked in sports betting in Europe with Betfair before moving to the US and to work in the Daily Fantasy Sports Industry with DraftKings. At DK, he worked on the Games Team where his focus was on Analytics and Operations. Post-PASPA, John helped DraftKings launch the first digital sportsbook in NJ, leading their sportsbook analytics team.
Jonathan holds a master’s in financial engineering from UCLA and a bachelor’s in information systems from Boston College. He completed a graduate internship with Dimensional Fund Advisors and has 3 years of experience in the financial markets prior to grad school. While at Boston College, Jonathan competed on the varsity men’s tennis team.
Ben earned both his Master’s in Data Science and Bachelor’s in Commerce (Finance and Economics) from the University of Sydney. He has a passion for sports and answering sport related questions with data. Prior to joining SimpleBet, Ben worked as a Fraud Analyst for a leading commercial bank in Australia.
Jake graduated with his B.A. in Narrative Studies from the University of Southern California in May 2017. He first spent six months working in the film industry on production and content creation, then spent six months at Octagon Sports & Entertainment Agency working in global communications before joining SimpleBet.
Anna has an extensive background in finance and investment management with 10 years of work experience at one of the largest mutual fund companies in the world, where she was promoted from equity research analyst to fund manager. Anna left the financial industry to join a start-up as a lead statistician and data scientist. Seeking to further her skillset and to learn from the thought-leaders in this space, she entered a Master of Science program in the field of Data Science at Harvard. Anna will be graduating from Harvard in December 2019.
Manuel was the Co-Founder & Technical Lead at Sqwad, an in-game fantasy sports platform that licensed products to the WNBA and several minor league hockey teams. He was a Biomedical Software Developer at Sema4, Mt. Sinai’s genomics product team. Prior to that, he was an Application Engineer at Nike. Manuel has a B.A. from Columbia University.
Before SimpleBet Mark worked on a number of startup initiatives including technical co-founder of a DFS (daily fantasy sports) application for EPL (English Premier League) football/soccer. Prior to catching the startup bug he spent many years primarily in FinTech (financial technology) specializing in distributed, real-time systems for market data collection, pricing and trade execution. Mark holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Rutgers University.
Yuhao is a Front End Engineer with 5 years experience in UI/UX design. Before SimpleBet, he transformed financial services for two leading fin-tech companies, building and executing innovative, progressive and responsive web application user interface and design systems. Yuhao holds a Master of Science degree in Information Systems from Stevens Institute of Technology.
Kevin is a recent grad from City University of New York Hunter College where he studied computer science and mathematics. He has experience in low level systems programming languages such C/C++ and Rust from previous internship, open source contributions and course work.
Wenyi is a recent master graduate from the University of Michigan. During her master study, Wenyi has been working as a research associate, where she applied her skills on data analytics and modeling. She has the background of both electrical engineering and statistics.
Anna has more than a decade of experience in Project Management, preceded by a few more years in Data Analysis. Having worked in multiple industries (most prominently Finance, Entertainment, Marketing and Publishing), she has had the opportunity to manage a very broad array of projects and efforts. Her credentials include an alphabet soup of PM certifications (PMP, CSP, CSM, CSPO), a Masters in Business Management and Leadership, and a BA in Psychology and Research.
Darrin is an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Statistics with a minor in Computer Science from Harvard University. He is currently involved in research as a fellow for Harvard University Center for the Environment where he applies his skills in data analytics in order to answer questions pertaining to public opinion on climate change.
Shivam is currently part of the undergraduate dual degree program called Management, Entrepreneurship and Technology at UC Berkeley. He co-founded a computer vision startup that did object tracking to give coaches insight into strategy improvement in team sports and he is currently working on a renewable energy project. Shivam often works as a Blockchain consultant developing proof of concepts for various companies and he also plays for the mens squash team at UC Berkeley.
